Pines Golf Club – The Pines Pairs

Saturday March ^3rd – Sunday March ^4th 2018

The Pines Pairs is Northland’s premier pairs matchplay tournament and caters for golfers of all handicaps. This year is the 30th anniversary of the tournament.

Set over two days, you can test your game against the best the North Island has to offer in our Seniors division or edge your bets in one of the other three divisions. The prize pool for each division is equal. Our total prize pool last year was $10,800

Entry criteria states that all players with a current NZGA handicap (at time of entry) are eligible to enter the Pines Pairs. Overseas visitors with a NZGA handicap, 9 hole members & summer members are welcome to enter. Entry  into a particular division (max 16 pairs per division) is on a first come first served basis. The maximum field over 4 divisions will be 64 pairs.

Overseas handicaps are accepted with official supporting documentation.

How it Works

The format is 4 ball better ball matchplay across all divisions. If you lose your first match you enter the flights competition in that division.

You can enter ANY division you want but just be aware of the handicap limitation of that division.

Division 4 is a 9 hole matchplay competition.

Division 1 (Seniors)

This is off the stick straight shooting better ball matchplay. As an indication, handicaps last year ranged from 7 to +3. It’s great to watch and even better to play in.

Division 2

This is a handicapped division 4 ball better ball matchplay where the max handicap index is 13.9

This doesn’t mean if you are over 13.9 you can’t enter this division but it’s all the shots you will get.

In the match, if Dave is off 8, Brian 9, Bill 11 and Jim 13, Brian will get 1 shot, Bill 3 shots and Jim 5 shots to be used on the appropriate stroke holes.

Division 3

This is the same as division 2 where the max handicap is 24.9

All you 20 something handicappers, if you want to play matchplay, then this is the division for you.

Division 4

For those who don’t fancy four 18 hole rounds in 2 days, we offer a 9 hole matchplay division. It works the same as above with a maximum handicap allowance of 34.9.

Entry fee and prize fund are the same as the above divisions. It’s still matchplay but a good start is crucial.

Entree Fee

Early bird special which are all entries processed up to and including February 14th 2018 will be $60 per player. After this date the entry fee is $80 per player.
